An Update from the Land Use Department

Effective March 12, 2025, the term “Land Use Permits” has been replaced with “Certificates of Zoning Compliance”.
The following projects now require a Certificate of Zoning Compliance:
- constructing or installing a new structure
- changing any area in an existing structure into living space or non-living space
- installing patios that are slab, wood or raised, and any type of deck
- adding dwelling units to an existing structure
- adding or removing bedrooms, bathrooms or kitchens to an existing structure
- demolishing a structure
- installing or changing fences over six (6) feet tall
- installing or removing solar panels
- remodeling with a cost of $15,000 or more for materials only during a single calendar year not included in (a)-(h) above
NO Certificate of Compliance IS REQUIRED FOR……..
- Cosmetic maintenance such as painting or siding
- Reroofing with same materials
- Entry steps
- Landscaping
- Replacing windows with exact same size
