An Update from the Land Use Department

Effective March 12, 2025, the term “Land Use Permits” has been replaced with “Certificates of Zoning Compliance”.
The following projects now require a Certificate of Zoning Compliance:
  1. constructing or installing a new structure
  2. changing any area in an existing structure into living space or non-living space
  3. installing patios that are slab, wood or raised, and any type of deck
  4. adding dwelling units to an existing structure
  5. adding or removing bedrooms, bathrooms or kitchens to an existing structure
  6. demolishing a structure
  7. installing or changing fences over six (6) feet tall
  8. installing or removing solar panels
  9. remodeling with a cost of $15,000 or more for materials only during a single calendar year not included in (a)-(h) above
 
NO Certificate of Compliance IS REQUIRED FOR……..
  • Cosmetic maintenance such as painting or siding
  • Reroofing with same materials
  • Entry steps
  • Landscaping
  • Replacing windows with exact same size
