Temporary Suspension of all Outside Burning
Following the recommendation of the Division of Forest and Lands, effective immediately there shall be no outside burning in the Town of Bristol.
As the state continues into what is now considered extreme drought conditions, this is a necessary step in the protection of private property, dwellings, and the woodlands that abut many of us in town. As soon as conditions improve the ban on outside burning will be lifted. Please understand that this will take a significant change in the current weather, and not a simple overnight rain shower.
This ban affects all previously issued fire permits, and all burning of solid fuels. This ban also affects campgrounds, as well as the use of charcoal barbecues.
If you have any questions regarding the ban, you may call or stop by the Fire Department at:
Bristol Public Safety Building
230 Lake St.
(603)744-2632
Please remember to call 911 to report a fire or any outside burning during this ban. This is important in any emergency, but outside fires can spread quickly and there is not always someone at the station to answer emergency phone calls.
Thank you for your understanding and compliance with this ban.
Benjamin LaRoche,
Fire Chief/Fire Warden
